Helloitsheath: Where did the original concept for the trilogy come from? It didn't begin with a concept, but with two characters talking. I was freewriting, just for fun, and Karou and Brimstone appeared out of nowhere as though they were just waiting for me to notice them. It was thrilling! I fell in love with them at once, and a couple of random details caught my eye.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is a fantasy novel written by Laini Taylor. The story follows Karou, a seventeen-year-old Prague art student. Karou was raised by chimaera, or creatures that have attributes of different animals and humans. The chimaera she lives with demand teeth in exchange for wishes and send Karou to fetch these teeth for them. In the beginning, Karou has yet to discover what the teeth are eventually used for and why there are rules such as "no baby teeth" and "no rotting". While on one of these missions, Karou finds a seraph named Akiva who finds something familiar in her.

Publishers Weekly gave the novel a dwughter review, and the suspense, an angel and a devil fell in love. Goodreads helps you keep track of books you want to read. What happens next is best described by the book's own first lines: Once upon a time. My publisher came up with Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Her errand takes her to a black-market auction located in a warehouse on the outskirts of the city.

Freaking amazing book. I didn't expect this to be this good. I couldn't put the book down,like literally. Everything fits perfectly ,the characters ,the story,everything. It is so unique and different from other stories. And it's actually the first book. And it's actually the first book written in third person that I enjoyed because I'm not a fan of third person books.


When Karou and her best friend Zuzana are at a restaurant, Kishmish flies in bearing a letter from Brimstone saying to come immediatel. This book is almost perfect.

When you started writing Daughter of Smoke and Bone did you have an idea of how Dreams of Gods and Monsters would end or did you decide as you wrote. She was all: wind and home and door. Akiva is discovered by Stelian emissaries who, following his daguhter disruption of the fabric of the universe while casting a spell. Laini Taylor kicked my heart in the ass.
