The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Chronicles III: Art & Design by Daniel FalconerHave you spent hours watching the behind the scenes discs, marvelling at the creation of Middle Earth for the silver screen? Have you ever wished that you could have John Howe and Alan Lee sit on your coffee table, explaining to you the making of these blockbuster epics? Coming in at pages, and compiled by Weta Workshop senior concept designer Daniel Falconer who many will remember from his repeated appearances on the behind the scenes footage from both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies , this book is probably one of the more impressive coffee table books I could recommend to you at the moment. From the concept art and through each step of creation until final realisation, no movie could come close to the beauty that was created for The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. You can explore hundreds of images of concept artwork, photographs, development paintings, and much, much more. This book is, simply put, beautifully stunning. For any fans of The Hobbit movies, or fans of movie making in general, this is a must!

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - Chronicles III: Art & Design
I would definitely read it again and I have multiple abd. It doesn't hurt that Desolation of Smaug has a lot of really interesting design choices from Mirkwood, and even Smaug who briefly appears at the e! I don't even have a word to describe these movies' awesomeness. I love Movie art books and the hobbit ones must be my favorite!.
There are a few of those wide shots as well but could have been printed bigger. He also has a deep knowledge of Tolkien's Middle-earth, shortly before The Lord of the Rin. The book also features reproductions of Thorin's map and Bilbo's contract? It truly is a unique opportunity to see artwork by a wide range of artists across a multitude of disciplines in the film-making community of Wellington.
